Her mother might have held her hand through her first baby steps as a fledgling singer and performer, but come September 26 when she holds her first solo concert, Zia Quizon will be taking the stage of the Music Museum and facing the glare of the spotlight on her own.
It will be the culmination of a young woman’s journey to selfhood, one that the public has been privileged to share, thanks to the celebrity of Zia’s parents, pop diva Zsa Zsa Padilla and the late King of Philippine Comedy, Dolphy.
At the age of 21, the theoretical threshold of adulthood, and with her father’s first death anniversary on the 10th of this month serving as another symbolic marker, Zia is declaring her own independence.
She is in the process of moving out of her parents’ home into her own condominium, a D.I.Y. project that she is enjoying to the hilt.

There is always chaos expected when you put four different women, each a star in her own right (an understatement), in four different states of life altogether in one room. You would think piles and piles of stuff scattered all around, people rushing to and fro to meet demands and more people fussing around to satisfy each artist’s whims. Well, we had none of that. This shoot was different. There they were in the dressing room, each in her own corner — sitting quietly, almost Zen-like, even, and without any fanfare.

MANILA, Philippines – Born into a family of showbiz royalty, the performing genes have surely been passed on to Zia Quizon, but, Zia shares, growing up exposed to showbiz has always made her shy away from the limelight – until now. The singer-songwriter is steadily gaining popularity for her unique voice and honest lyrics, making her one of the year’s hottest singers.
“I guess I’ve always wanted to be involved in music. It’s been part of my life, part of our household,” says Zia. “But I always thought I would be a songwriter, or something out of the spotlight,” she adds.
The daughter of diva ZsaZsa Padilla and the late comedy king Dolphy, Zia grew up with an understanding that the spotlight was for her parents and older half-siblings.

A new revved-up version of its best-selling body lotion, a breakthrough in skin care, a line of bold-colored lipsticks, vitamin supplements and a fresh interpretation of its most unforgettable fragrance were on the spotlight as Avon Philippines launched its line-up for the first four months of the year.
Beauty queens Shamcey Supsup and Janine Tugonon, both Miss Universe runners-up, hosted the event at White Space in Makati City.
MANILA, Philippines – Singer Zia Quizon admitted she started to become health-conscious after her father, the King of Philippine Comedy Dolphy, passed away and her mother Zsa Zsa Padilla found an abnormal mass in her kidney.
Speaking to ABS-CBN News, Quizon said she actually followed a healthier diet that made her lose around 25 pounds.
“I’ve been doing some Pilates and just diet, diet. When I say diet, it’s just salad instead of rice, steak instead of burger. Mga ganoon, just the healthier choice. I don’t weigh myself anymore. I just go by how I’m feeling about myself,” she said.
Quizon realized she had to take care of herself more to avoid any health problems that would worry her loved ones.
“I only tried being healthier when my mom had her health scare and when my dad passed away. Of course that puts mortality in your brain and you want to take care of yourself more and your body,” she said.
Meanwhile, Quizon takes pride to be among the country’s most beautiful women in endorsing a beauty product.
Quizon is now the newest ambassador of Avon Philippines, along with beauty queens Janine Tugonon, Shamcey Supsup and Ruffa Gutierrez and model Georgina Wilson.
